A Wedding Exhibition

Melissa and Andrés are Colombian and live in the United States. Their guests travelled from Panama, Mexico, Colombia, the US, Canada, the Netherlands and Spain – to Cappadocia, among fairy chimneys, cave architecture and balloons in the morning sky.
From the very beginning, one thing was clear: the design of this wedding should be as considered as an art exhibition. Every element was curated, not just decorated – from the colours and the lighting to sculptures made of real flowers. And yet the celebration was pure Colombian wedding: loud, warm-hearted and on until deep into the night.

Deep purple meets icy blue – two shades that look almost surreal against the sand-coloured landscape of Cappadocia. Add mirrors and reflective surfaces, sculptural florals and fringes moving in the wind.
And above all: light. Wall washers, glowing spheres on the tables and a ceiling of flowing chiffon – lighting was never an afterthought in the design of this wedding, but a priority.

This wedding featured a real art exhibition: five pillars, each holding objects that tell something about Melissa and Andrés – their story, their Colombian roots, the wedding and the place.
Each pillar was crowned with a sculpture made of real flowers. Just like in a gallery, every piece carried its own title and a short note revealing its meaning.

Melissa and Andrés didn’t want to ignore where they were getting married – quite the opposite. During dinner, a kanun player performed traditional Turkish music, and Melissa had five Turkish songs that simply had to be played.

Instead of a list, there was an archaeological seating chart: a sandbox in which every guest had to dig out their own name to find their seat – a tribute to the ancient history of Cappadocia.
Courtyard, Avantgarde Refined
Arriving among cave architecture and fire pits: to kick off the weekend, all guests came together for a small barbecue in the courtyard.

A free day for the guests – with yoga in the garden and time for balloons, valleys and underground cities. For the couple, it began at sunrise: with a shoot on horseback, beneath the balloons in the sky.

Fire on the grill, red wine in hand and guests from seven countries meeting for the very first time: the barbecue in the courtyard was the moment a group of travellers turned into a wedding party.

Day two began before sunrise. While hundreds of hot-air balloons drifted up over the fairy chimneys, Melissa and Andrés were already out – for a shoot in the very first light, with Cappadocia as a backdrop no set in the world could ever recreate.
And those exact images came back on the wedding night: as 3D mapping across walls and ceiling.

In the middle of the valley
No hall, no terrace – but right in the middle of the valley, surrounded by Cappadocia’s rock formations. Velvet stools in plum, clouds of blue hydrangeas and a string trio accompanying the ceremony.

The highlight of the evening was light: for the grand entrance, 3D mapping turned the Signature Hall into a galaxy. Later, a film played there that the videographer had edited in record time – from the previous day’s shoot with horses and balloons against the backdrop of Cappadocia, projected across walls and ceiling.
