A weekend in Apulia

Graziella and Steffen celebrated a whole weekend at Mastropà Exclusive Resort: a pool party the day before, then on the wedding day the church ceremony in the morning and the celebration on the estate in the evening.
Mastropà is near Massafra, between Bari and Brindisi, and used to be the hunting lodge and summer residence of a landowning family. Today it has 18 hectares of olive groves, gardens and a saltwater infinity pool. There are only 9 rooms, so 18 people can stay on site.

The church ceremony took place at the Santuario Madonna della Scala, and this church is really special. It sits on the slope of the Gravina di Massafra, a ravine that was once home to an entire rock village with more than 200 caves. 125 steps lead up to the church.
The 18th-century high altar holds a Byzantine fresco of the Madonna. If you want a church wedding in Apulia and are looking for something that doesn’t look standard, this church is a good choice.

Massafra is very rural, and logistics are the hardest part here. We would advise against a shuttle service for arrivals. It’s better if your guests drive a rental car from the airport to their accommodation. That way they stay flexible in the days afterwards too, especially for a wedding weekend.
Ideally, put all your guests up in one place. Then you can organise an event shuttle that takes everyone from the hotel to the venue and back. Nearby there is the Best Western Hotel Massafra: clean and nice, but without a pool. Casa Isabella Exclusive in Mottola is a bit more romantic.
